Welcome to Design Technology & Exploration!
Below you will find some basic information about these courses and expectations for our class.
We are paperless- except for 'Technical Drawings' & ' How To' handouts which are kept in class.
All students will use their Google School account to access Google Classroom.
Guardians and parents are welcome to view these assignments.

Mindcraft ,Project Foundry,Raspberry Pi ,robotics, rocketry,
Scatch, video game design etc projects
+ while integrating
science, technology, engineering, math & writing!
Welcome Sixth Grade Students! You will be introduced to basic technology applications and design concepts. They will apply these concepts through a number of hands-on activities and projects. Problem solving, critical thinking, and career connections are key elements of this course.
Materials include but are not limited to
50 Count Drinking Straws (available @HEB)
25 Count Pipe Cleaners (available @ Walmart)
100 Count Craft sticks & hot glue gun sticks (available @Walmart)
Materials and supplies will be discussed on an as-needed basis throughout the year.
DSISD uses guidelines found in the
Children’s Internet Protection Act.
No information may be saved on the classroom computers!
Students will learn the design process and how to apply this process using hands-on activities. This course requires very little homework. Most assignments can be completed during class.
Daily work, homework, quizzes and journal checks will count 30%.
Projects, presentations, exams, and interim journal checks will count 70%.
Late Work Policy:
Formative: Students who turn in late work for a maximum grade of 70 by the next meeting of the class. After this the grade will be a zero.Summative: Students will be assigned an incomplete and then a maximum grade of 70 at the next meeting of the class. Following the next meeting of the class missing assessment will become a zero
and parents will be contacted.
Correcting Assignments/Retesting Policy:
Students will not have the opportunity to correct daily assignments, homework assignments,
For projects, exams, and interim journal checks students will not have an opportunity to correct and retest for a grade.
Personal Electronic Devices:
I encourage students to use their devices for academic use during class. If the devices are not needed for class, they are to be left in their backpacks or on my desk. All devices will be turned off upon entering the classroom and may not be turned on until needed. Misuse of this privilege will result in confiscation of the device. Students are responsible for keeping up with their own devices.
Communication between home and school is best accomplished through email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Your student will be an excellent source of information about classroom activities and assignments. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you
